Questions
Why “Dhappa”?
It’s what we all shouted in luka chuppi when we found someone. In the app it’s the tag — “Dhappa! (Caught you!)”: a caught runner taps it and everyone in the game hears about it.
Is it free?
Downloading the app and joining games is free. Hosting needs a one-time Host Pass. There’s no subscription and no advertising.
Who can see my location?
Only players in your game, only while a round is running. Your own team sees you live. If you are a runner, hunters see where you were at each ping — not a live feed — unless you stay outside the zone for 30 seconds. Nobody outside the game, including other users, can see it.
How long is location data kept?
Precise positions are deleted when the round ends. Games, chat and results are deleted seven days after the game was created.
Do I need to be 18?
Yes, for a personal account. Younger players can only take part at organised events run by an adult with parental permission.
Which phones does it work on?
Android 7 and newer at launch. An iPhone version is planned.
Does it work with the screen off?
Yes. During a round the app shows a notification while it shares your location, and alerts arrive as vibrations. Don’t swipe the app away until the round ends.
How many people can play?
From 2 up to 20 per game. For bigger events, see our organiser plans.
What if my GPS is bad?
Move into the open for a better signal. Your team sees “signal lost” if your phone stops updating, and the game keeps running on the server.
What stops someone cheating?
The server, not your phone, decides what each player can see and when the round ends. A photo catch only counts if it’s clearly the runner, the runner gets to say “not me”, and the host settles disputes fairly. Tags in person are an honour system — if someone plays unfairly, report them from the results screen.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Settings → Delete my account. If you no longer have the app, use the deletion request form.
